Yuma, AZ

From Tucson we headed west to Yuma for a week (actually just over the AZ border to Winterhaven, CA) for a visit with friends and a few trips to Los Algodones, Mexico.

And a stop for medicine - Phoenix Drug Store - actually in Mexico

Lots of vendors selling their goods on the streets

Great to see you Joan and Jay!

We are now in Palm Springs, CA for a few more days before we head to Apache Junction, AZ.  Yes, we are bopping all over the place this winter!

Til next time...Happy Trails!

Tucson, AZ

From Harlingen, TX to Tucson, AZ.  2 easy overnights in Wal-Mart parking lots and we arrived in Tucson.  Last winter we spent 3 months here so we have become "locals" to the area and quickly acclimated.  It's so great coming back to a place with many friends already in the park.  This RV life is great!

Being close to Phoenix we had the opportunity to relax with my brother and the family.

Chef Tom - is he a converted Steelers fan?  No way!

Moxie helped herself to Jax's chair.  She fit quite comfortably.

Happy Birthday, Taite!
My favorite sunrise hike up South Mountain

Tucson desert hiking - a different kind of beauty!

There's nothing like AZ sunrises and sunsets!

Another great thing about Tucson is you're only an hour away from Mount Lemmon and when it snows it's a gorgeous site.  From desert to snow country in just a few miles.

Next stop - Yuma, AZ

Harlingen, TX

I'm finally catching up on a few quick blogs of our time since we headed out of PA in December!

We had heard many good things about the South Padre Island area in Texas so we booked one of our member campgrounds in Harlingen for a few weeks.  What great weather they have there!  While everyone else was cold we had nights in the upper 60s and daytime highs in the 80s.  Yes, there is a pretty constant gulf breeze but it's worth it for those temps!  And an added bonus was we pulled in next to friends, Tiffany and Wade, without even knowing/planning it.  We love how that happens!

South Padre Island is a great place to enjoy the beach with your vehicle right next to you.  Moxie loved running around in the dunes and really got excited after she discovered digging for sand crabs could be so entertaining.  Town was also known for it's many elaborate sand castles.  I cannot imagine the amount of time it takes to build one of these!

unusual things on this beach!

Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge was about an hour's drive for a great place to bike ride and enjoy the birds (unfortunately I just realized I have no pictures of all the birds we saw!).

huge buck we saw on our bike ride

Our Texas Rebel friend, Cathy Phillips, came down for New Year's Eve.  We ended up on South Padre Island for the evening and then in Mexico the next day.  Thanks for the visit!

Next stop - Tucson, AZ!
