Mt. Hood Summit!

June 1, 2013 - We did it!!!  11,239 ft., 8+ miles, 10 hours (1:30am-7:30am Timberline Lodge to summit; 7:30am-11:30am back to parking lot at Timberline Lodge)

Words to describe those 10 hours - breath-taking, amazing, inspiring, awestruck, adrenaline-filled, cold, tired, hot, energized and many many more!

Pictures of the mountain the day before we climbed (short dry run to get a feel for the snow-covered mammoth of a mountain).  It doesn't look that bad, does it?  Let's just say looks are deceiving!

Pictures from day of the climb:

first flat rest area- Devil's kitchen

getting close - and yes, it's THAT STEEP!

Happy now that we're off the steep part and warming up!

Now we are resting and packing for our flight back to PA.  We fly June 5th and will return to Portland, OR July 5th.  See you soon, everyone back home!

Til next time...Happy Trails!

  1. Congratulations on the climb! You were in my back yard. We love Mt. Hood. We don't climb it but we are going AROUND it July 20th when we do the Fruit Loop. http://www.hoodriverfruitloop.com/index.html
