Heading South With The Geese!

Can it really be fall already?  Yesterday, the official first day of fall, we took a fabulous hike in the White Mountains, NH on the Welch-Dickey Loop Trail and there it is really starting to look like fall by the colors on the trees.  We only had a day in the Whites with a beautiful hike and drive around the area.  We've decided next time we're up here we definitely want to spend some time in this area as there are so many beautiful hiking trails and places to see in this great forest.

But now the time has come for us to start heading south.  Campgrounds in the Northeast are beginning to make their closing plans for the season and we've had to use our heat a few too many times already!  We are so glad we chose to spend some time in Maine as we've enjoyed every moment of it.  This area of southern Maine is so very different from where we stayed with my cousin, but it is certainly beautiful in it's own way.  We spent a few days in Portland - what a great city!  The coast of Maine is gorgeous and we were fortunate to see several spectacular sunrises, lighthouses galore and the beauty of the ocean.  Oh yeah, let's not forget the great "lobstah" eating!  The seafood here is amazing!  We even enjoyed an excellent Sushi dinner in Portland thanks to Vivian & Ken!  Yummy!

On Monday we leave our campground with an overnight in NH, an overnight in a truck stop (or Wal-Mart!) Tuesday night on the way to NJ for an arrival near Sea Isle on Wednesday.  It will be nice to be back in a familiar area.  We plan to hop back to PA for a short time before heading on to VA, NC, SC and FL for the winter.  Til next time...happy trails!
