Vermont and New York State High Points

We completed another two, #28 and #29, of the lower 48 states!

#28 - Mount Mansfield, VT - 4,393ft - 6.6 mile hike with an elevation gain of 1,793ft.  A challenging (mostly straight up and over large rocks) hike to the top (note:  if you plan to hike it, do it on a week day - less crowds).  Great views and a beautiful day on the mountain!

Burlington, VT - On the way home from the mountain, we decided to take a side trip and stop in to see Burlington.  Great town on Lake Champlain.  Lots of character (many musicians playing on the streets) and beauty.
The original Ben & Jerry's store - couldn't resist!

at the recommendation of a friend, we had a wonderful meal and beer here

Lake Champlain

Lake Champlain
#29 - Mount Marcy, NY - 5,344ft - 15 mile hike with an elevation gain of 3,164ft.  Another challenging hike, due more to the length than the terrain (although very rocky as well).  The clouds kept us nice and cool on the hike but still allowed for incredible views from the top.

Lake Placid - a short stop from the Mount Marcy trailhead - another beautiful mountain town
Ski Jump from the 1980 Olympics - that's CRAZY!

Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake
Lake George - we are staying very close to Lake George Village - so many lakes in this area of NY!  Spectacular!

Next high points - MA, CT and RI!

Til next time...Happy Trails!
